What is the county enclosure at Doncaster races?

The County Enclosure at Doncaster Racecourse provides modern and comfortable facilities across three floors of the Lazarus Stand, and offers a host of bars and restaurants. However, there is much more to a County Enclosure Badge than access to the enclosure itself.

Can I wear shorts at Doncaster races?

Strictly no jeans, sportswear or trainers. Please note smart tailored shorts are allowed but they must not be denim or ripped and gents must be wearing proper shoes (no trainers or flip flops). This also applies to children. No dress code applies for this enclosure.

Can you wear jeans at the races?

You can wear jeans to the races although this does depend on what stand of the racecourse you are in. If you are based in a formal meeting or in the main grandstand then we would definitely advise you to not wear jeans.

What do you wear to the races?

Wear anything casual like denim, sportswear, untailored pants and jackets, leggings, sneakers or thongs (shoes that go between the first two toes). Show too much skin – bare midriffs (including cut-outs) are a no-no, as are strapless dresses or spaghetti straps in members’ areas. Avoid shorts and short playsuits.

Do you have to wear a mask at a racecourse?

Face coverings (i.e. non-medical face coverings) must be worn at the racecourse by all attendees who are not identified as needing certified/higher grade PPE (e.g. medical and cleaning staff).

Are racing flats worth it?

Flats simply aren’t worth the added risk of injury. Not only that, but racing shoes won’t make a significant difference in how fast you run, unless you can race at least 6:30-7 minutes per mile pace or faster. Most highly competitive, veteran road racers near the front of the pack wear racing shoes.

Is Doncaster races cashless?

All bars and food outlets are cashless and will be accepting card and contactless payments only. However bookmakers and the tote will still accept cash payments. As there are no cash machines on the racecourse, please bring cash with you if this is your preferred payment method with bookmakers.

Do shoes matter in racing?

While the equipment needed by the everyday driver is relatively limited, a good pair of racing shoes is a definite plus. They not only provide substantial foot mobility, but also offer the driver a better feel of the pedals, enabling more precise control.
