Are Glock 26 and 27 barrels the same?
The outside diameter of the barrels are different. The g26 barrel has a smaller diameter. It will not be the proper fit in your slide. If you have a g27 you can get a conversion barrel and a couple of g26 mags and have a blast.

What is the best caliber for a G27 to carry?
A G27 with a 40-9 conversion barrel and 9mm magazines would be my choice. Don’t practice until you get it right… practice until you can’t get it wrong. To shoot ‘fast and accurate’, press the trigger without moving the pistol and minimize the pistol’s movement during recoil. My normal advice is to buy the gun in the caliber you plan to carry.
